NI Museums Council Launches Corporate Plan 2026–2030
July 6, 2026The NI Museums Council (NIMC) has officially launched our Corporate Plan 2026–2030, setting out an ambitious vision to support a museum sector that is vibrant, inclusive, resilient and innovative.
Built around four strategic pillars, the new Corporate Plan will guide NI Museum Council’s work over the next five years, ensuring that museums and their collections remain at the heart of culture, learning and community life throughout Northern Ireland.
The Plan provides a clear framework for the Council’s activities, enabling a more coordinated and effective approach to supporting museums and NI Museum Council members. It will inform the development of grants, training programmes, advocacy work and future projects, ensuring that resources are focused on the needs of the sector while delivering long-term benefits for collections and audiences alike.
At the core of the Corporate Plan is a commitment to placing museum collections at the centre of all NI Museum Council’s work. Collections are the foundation of Northern Ireland’s rich cultural heritage and play a vital role in preserving and sharing the stories, histories and experiences that shape local communities.
The Corporate Plan 2026–2030 reflects NI Museum Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting museums as trusted community spaces, custodians of heritage and drivers of cultural participation. Through collaboration, innovation and a strong focus on collections, the Council aims to help build a sustainable and thriving museum sector for the future.
