LET’S TALK: Ending Violence Against Women & Girls
Online WebinarOnline session for NI Museums looking at the role museums can play in ending violence against women and girls.
Hosted By Northern Ireland Museums Council in partnership with UU, this webinar considers how museums can use collections, historical evidence, and public spaces to open conversations about women’s experiences of violence.
The event is a continuation of the discussions held at the Sector Consultation Day at Ulster Museum in June 2026, however you do not need to have attended the first event to register for the LET’S TALK.

Ulster University
Museums, heritage sites, and cultural organisations across the UK and Ireland are increasingly recognised as trusted civic spaces where pressing social issues can be explored with care. As governments prioritise Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG), this project examines how museums can contribute meaningfully to prevention, awareness, and dialogue. The project has three parts: Literature Review and Practice Analysis (April–July); Sector Consultation Day (June); Translating Insights into Future Work (July–December).
National Justice Museum
The Nottingham based museum is currently a photographic exhibition by Jayne Jackson that exposes the enduring narratives that shift blame onto survivors of sexual and domestic abuse. ‘Asking for It’ challenges the culture of victim-blaming in sexual violence cases, sparking important conversations about justice, consent, and culture. Representatives from the museum will join us to discuss the ‘Asking For It’ exhibition and its impact.
Women’s Research Development Agency and Reclaim the Agenda
Learn more about the WRDA ‘Raise Your Voice’ initiative dedicated to ending sexual harassment and sexual violence through community engagement, education, and advocacy. Representatives will discuss ongoing work and workshops and explore how museums and other heritage organisations can get involved.
