Futures for All – GEM and NIMC Collaborative event
Online EventOverview
Futures for All (FFA) are the UK’s leading social mobility charity, dedicated to levelling the playing field for all young people in education by providing fully funded and free-to-access Work Experience and Speakers for Schools programmes.
What do young people get?:
FFA want to empower young people still in education to make informed career decisions about their future by working directly with industry professionals to showcase the range of roles and pathways available as well as providing opportunities to develop work related skills. The platform is UK wide and offer online / in person / hybrid placements to remove geographical and financial barriers.
What would museums get?:
FFA have funding to offer host organisations the opportunity to trial 2 x multi day opportunities this academic year (i.e. 8hrs content delivered over 2+days before end of June 2026.).
FFA would run the platform that would promote opportunities and liaise with the school to secure correct consent forms. This would reduce the amount of work by museums and provide a platform that museums can sign post to when they get enquiries. Many museums and heritage organisations have already availed of the opportunity.
Multi organisation opportunities:
There may be opportunities for museums to work together to provide placements which would lighten the load, for example each day at a different museum, each online event featuring speakers from different museums/speciality that could highlight different career paths.
January Information webinar:
Futures for All usually work with a 12 week lead in time to promote opportunities, liaise with schools, organise consent forms etc so have offered a webinar in January for museums and heritage organisations in NI who may be interested.
