‘Our Museum’ – Early Years Book Project Round 2

Our Museum
Our Museum is an NI Museums Council project aimed at strengthening the links between museums, early years units, libraries and the home. As part of the project children take the lead in designing a children’s book inspired by a museum and its collection. The book can be used in outreach, loan boxes, family events etc. and can be used in collaboration with local libraries for Storytime sessions.
Input from preschools, nurseries and Sure Starts is essential and children will be involved in the story development, illustrations, and graphic design. NI Museums Council will procure the facilitators and artists and will liaise with Libraries NI to expand their involvement.
Round 2 follows a successful pilot year in 2024-15 which saw books launched at Ballymoney Museum and North Down Museum. Evaluations from the pilot year have informed Round 2.
Funder:
This project will be funded by NI Museums Council.
When: The project will begin as soon as possible following the deadline of EOI’s and must be completed by March 2026. We ask that EOI’s are submitted by 17th October, this will allow time to liaise with your local nursery, preschool, Sure Start and measure their interest and capability to be involved.
What we need:
We ask that any museum who submits an EOI will already have a local group that they can work with. If you have more than one group that would like to be involved, please include this in the email.

- Name of museum
- Name of early years unit that has agreed to be involved
- and/or
- Name of of Sure Start that has agreed to be involved
