Training Overview
This training session is delivered through a partnership with IMA aimed at strengthening the sectors skills in evaluation.
This training session can be attended as a stand alone event or as a follow on from the ‘Evaluation and Monitoring Fundamentals’ session hosted by IMA on the 12th September 2023.
Participants will:
- Learn how to create a meaningful and user-friendly evaluation plan (using an adapted logic model template)
- Learn how to create a meaningful and user-friendly evaluation plan (using an adapted logic
model template) - Understand the difference between front-end, formative and summative evaluation
- Understand the difference between monitoring, evaluation, and research (including non-user
research) - Understand the difference between inputs, outputs, outcomes and impact
- Consider evaluation principles and how to embed these into the planning process (including
how you can ensure your approach to evaluation is socially engaged and care-focused) - Gain tips on how to balance an organisation’s monitoring and evaluation intentions with the
requirements of a funder/multiple funders - Consider how to conduct process evaluation as well as impact evaluation
- Have ideas on how to act on findings
- Leave with links to further resources and tools.
Who is this training for:
This training is provided for NIMC and IMA members only. It is recommended for those planning to apply for an NIMC grant in 2023-24.
The session is designed for those with no or little experience of evaluation, or those who’d like a refresher.
This training session can be attended as a stand alone even or as a follow on from the ‘Evaluation and Monitoring Fundamentals’ session hosted by IMA on the 12th September 2023.
About the Trainer
Christina Lister is a freelance audience development and marketing consultant, trainer and facilitator working in the heritage and culture sectors, with 20 years’ experience working in agency and in house positions and as a consultant. She has undertaken evaluation and research projects for clients including the Science Museum Group, the Museum of London, American Library, Norfolk Record Office and Norwich Historic Churches Trust; and has run evaluation and research training for organisations including the Arts Marketing Association, South West Museum Development, China
Exchange, SHARE Museums East and Hampshire Military Museums. A former IPSE Freelancer of the Year runner-up, Christina has authored Marketing Strategy for Museums, to be published by Routledge in December 2023.
