As Chief Executive of NIMC, Chris is responsible for the overall management of the Council, assists the Board in the development of appropriate policy and priorities, and is the designated Accounting Officer being accountable to the Northern Ireland Assembly. Prior to joining the Council Chris worked in various local authorities, and managed a range of venues and galleries. He has a wide range of experience of cultural activity at home and abroad and serves on the Boards of various museum and arts bodies.
As Business Executive Officer of NIMC, Karen is responsible for all organisational and administrative support to the Council's staff and Board of Directors. She is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the Council's operational procedures and information systems as well as administering various initiatives particularly the grant and training schemes. Karen ensures the smooth running of the office and undertakes various projects.
Rachel has joined NIMC as Development Officer (Learning). This role works to advance the Museums Policy through supporting and building capacity within the local museums to further them as centres of learning. Rachel has worked most recently as a Learning Officer in National Museums Northern Ireland and also as an Education Officer in the heritage sector. Originally trained as a teacher, Rachel has experience of designing, delivering and evaluating learning programmes and activities for a wide range of formal and informal learners including hard to reach communities.
Tríona White Hamilton
Triona's work as Development Officer (Collections and Museums) focuses on administering the Museum Accreditation Scheme and assisting local museums to maintain and improve the standard of their collections. Previous to her role at NIMC she worked in various museum and collection related roles in organisations across Ireland, north and south of the border.
Beth joined NIMC in 2016 as Project Co-ordinator for the Heritage Lottery Funded project 'Playful Museums'. She has a proven track record of delivery in museum engagement work and a passion for developing opportunities for young people.
Daniel joined NIMC in September 2016 to cover the Development Officer (Collections and Museums) role whilst Tríona is away on maternity leave. His most recent role was as Museum and Heritage Officer at Limavady and Green Lane Museum. Daniel began his museum career through NIMC's Collection Skills Initiative on placement at Ballymoney Museum.
