Thursday 22 November 2018 at 7.30pm Armagh Robinson Library

This talk by Professor Tim Wilks will provide an in-depth look at the gem collection of Richard Robinson, 1st Baron Rokeby, who was Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of Ireland (1765-1794). This is a rare 18th-century collection, collected by Archbishop Robinson and bequeathed by him to the Robinson Library. The original cabinets to house the collection, thought to have been designed by the Library's architect Thomas Cooley, are also in the Library. Tim Wilks is Emeritus Professor of Cultural History, Solent University, Southampton, and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He has published widely on British and European visual, material and literary culture in the Renaissance and Early Modern periods. This event is part of the Armagh Georgian Festival and the Library is grateful to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for the support they have given for this event.
