Museums Tell Stories

During late 2021 and the early months of 2022 NI Museums Council partnered with the Armstrong Storytelling Trust to deliver a community engagement project, Museums Tell Stories, with five local museums.  The museums involved were:

Tower Museum, Newry & Mourne Museum, Fermanagh County Museum, Ballycastle Museum and North Down Museum.  These museums worked with the follwoing groups: Shanttallow Luncheon Club, Cedar Foundation service users, South west Ageing Partnership, Glenshesk Court (Clanmill Housing) and Savoy Independent Living (Clanmill Housing).

The project was aimed at engaging those within the local communities who had experienced social isolation during the pandemic.  Weekly sessions which blended collections-inspired reminiscence and storytelling were delivered by local musuem staff and the storytellers.

A collection of recordings of the stories were produced alongside the project and these can be viewed here
