We are pleased to announce we are seeking 5 Northern Irish local museums to participate in the 'Global Voices, Local Choices' project funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund and developed by NIMC, National Museums NI and African & Caribbean Support Organisation NI (ACSONI).
29 April 2022
Expressions of interest are being sought from Northern Irish local museums to participate in the 'Global Voices, Local Choices' project.
Funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Collections Fund, ‘Global Voices, Local Choices’ aims to bring diverse cultures and perspectives into NI local and national museums. The partners will be working to engage marginalised communities, availing them a fair opportunity for their community representatives to assert their right to make choices relating to National Museums NI’s World Cultures collections and how they are interpreted. The project will raise awareness and understanding of these collections, and how a decolonisation approach can be implemented in a fresh and inclusive way through creativity. The project will be a learning experience for all partners and participants.
This is a great opportunity for local museums to further their work developing audiences, to present marginalised global voices and learn from the expertise within marginalised communities, as we seek to devise a new approach for connecting people with collections that have been under-utilised and poorly understood.
If you are interested in finding out more or applying please read the Global Voices, Local Choices Overview and EOI Form.
Expression of interest applications are open until 4pm on Tuesday 31st May
