Youth Ambassador Niamh makes an impact on Reimagine Remake Replay project

Youth Ambassador Niamh Kelly advocates youth led approach on Reimagine Remake Replay project.

07 September 2020

Youth Ambassador Niamh Kelly joined the Reimagine Remake Replay team in February 2020.  Niamh was brought onboard as a champion of the voices of the young people involved in the project and is certainly living up to the title.

As with many other projects, RRR found itself under pressure to adapt, and in some cases disband, its activiites to meet Lockdown restrictions.  Niamh, mindful of this, devised, developed and led one of RRR's first Lockdown programmes- an extremely successful online creative writing course.  This programme, which is set to run again in October, resulted in over 30 participant website blogs, poems, articles and tweets, covering topics such as contemporary collecting, lockdown loneliness, exhibiton reviews and considerations of an array of museum collections.  Niamh has also created, delivered and interpreted a youth opinion survey relating to OCN and digital badge qualifications, to better undertsnad motivations that drive participants to complete programmes.  She has been invited to represent the project on 3 project-wide Kick the Dust events, including presenting at the annual cohort meeting and steering an Online Youth-Led Event.  She has developed partnerships with other charities and projects such as Kids in Museums and Digital Attitudes and Skills for Heriatge (DASH).  Niamh has also written blogs  on the project's progress and applied for awards.  To find out more about Niamh's journey and hear from more of the RRR project team sign up to NIMC's October LET'S TALK: Reimaging Youth Engagement.
