Wednesday 27 September 2017, 7pm-9pm Newry and Mourne Museum

As part of the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council's "Merchant Festival" in Newry, come along and see old footage which will give an insight into how Newry has changed and developed since 1924. With rare footage from the 1920s, including the Holy Family Confraternity, the annual sports day at Our Ladies School, the Central Laundry on Monaghan Street, and an outing to Cranfield, the film also shows the Newry area during the Second World War, Newry Civic Week during the 1960s and the Canal Festival during the 1970s. There are also interviews with local characters, including Irish dancing teacher Arthur Burns and Champ McMahon from Mourneview.
