Normans - Tale of a Medieval Town

Key Stage Three Carrickfergus Museum

In this session pupils will embark on a walking tour to hear how the town of Carrickfergus grew around the magnificent Norman Castle. Pupils will make their way through the town starting from the medieval harbour area moving to the site of the medieval kiln, then on to Market Place (site of Great Patrick Cross) before we reach the site of the Franciscan Friary, which now houses the town's museum. The session includes a tour of the museum and a medieval industries handling activity. Class size is restricted to 35 and the session lasts 2hrs

The NI curriculum areas of learning are: Environment & Society, Citizenship, Religious education, and Language & Literacy.

The skills and communication used include: Personal development & Mutal understanding, managing information, communication, reading writing and team work.
